This training covers the Standard European Scenarios (STS 1,2) necessary for flight in sparsely densified areas (VLOS) and beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS). It is compulsory for participants who want to obtain the European accreditation in a specific category.

    Topic 1

    Pre-Flight Actions

    • Operations planning, airspace considerations and risk assessment of the operation site
    • Pre-flight inspection and machine preparation (flight modes and power source hazards)
    • Knowledge of basic actions to be taken in case of emergency situations

    Topic 2

    Flight Procedures

    • Maintain an effective lookout and keep unmanned aircraft in the field of view (VLOS) at all times
    • Perform accurate and controlled flight maneuvers at various altitudes and distances corresponding to a given STS
    • Real-time monitoring of the machine’s endurance limit
    • Flight in abnormal conditions

    Topic 3

    Post-Flight Actions

    • Emergency landing in a safe area
    • Post-flight inspection and recording of all relevant data concerning the general condition of the UAS
    • Conduct a debriefing of the operation
    • Identify situations where an incident report is required and complete the required incident report

    Topic 4

    BVLOS Operations

    • Pre-Flight actions: Operational planning, airspace considerations, and site risk assessment
    • The following items should be included: (A) Airspace Observation; (B) Operations with airspace observers
